Barred hogfish

The barred hogfish (Pseudolepidaplois scrofa) is a curious fish that swims alone or in twos in Tenerife's waters. It feeds on sea urchins, crustaceans and small fish living in the cracks and caves on the rocky ocean floor. This vulnerable species is now protected and features on the Canary Islands Sea Life Red List. Its snout-like face is what gives it its name.
