The church of San Juan Bautista

The church was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1985 and is, together with its surroundings, the most important architectural site in Villa de Arico. The building we see today dates from the 18th century, with a single nave, a main chapel and two side chapels forming a Latin cross, with coffered ceilings. Its architectural features belong to the Baroque period and to the late Gothic style. Prominent among its artistic treasures are the figures of the Virgen de Abona, Virgen del Rosario and Virgen del Carmen, as well as a monstrance and several gold-plated silver chalices.
