Villa de Arico

Villa de Arico was named a "Villa" (a distinction that is roughly equivalent to that of Borough in the UK) by Alfonso XIII in 1916 thanks to the financial surge it experienced during that period. The town's actual development began from 1590 to 1610 with the construction of the San Juan Bautista chapel. All around the church there emerged lovely houses that today make up its fascinating historic quarter.
