The Church of San José

Located opposite Plaza Domingo Reyes Afonso, the church has a simple rectangular layout with a small annexed sacristy and an Arabic-tiled hipped roof. The main façade is framed by a stone Roman arch flanked with pilasters. Inside, the most noteworthy feature is the wooden trussed ceiling reinforced with three beams adorned with latticework forming stars. Although the original paving was made of red slabs, it was replaced some time ago by the floors we see today. The main altarpiece dates from the late 18th century and has a single body divided into three aisles separated by a column with a curved central loft. Some of its most important pieces are a statue of San José decorated with gold touches and a figure of La Dolorosa that was made in the 18th century by an anonymous author.
