The chapel and former monastery of Santo Domingo

This 17th century chapel still features a traditional Canarian wine press. It stands out for the stonework on the façade and the simple Roman arch made of stone over the doorway. It contains a figure of Christ on the Cross from the former Franciscan monastery of La Orotava which was salvaged from a fire, as well as a figure of Virgen del Rosario. The monastery, on the other hand, was used as a resting place for Dominican monks travelling from Santa Cruz to Isla Baja. In the late 19th century it became a school for the least privileged children and today the site features a house, a chapel, a wine cellar and a religious education centre.
