Ruigómez, Erjos, San José de los Llanos, San Francisco and el Amparo

Municipalities: El Tanque, Garachico and Icod de los Vinos

The single road that links El Tanque to Santiago del Teide journeys past five little hamlets. First up are Ruigómez and Erjos, competing with one another in their beauty and that of the scenery around them. After Erjos comes San José de los Llanos reached by taking a turn-off to the left. You will find Erjos just before the pine forest area, making it one of the most densely populated spots in Tenerife's highlands.

Next, back on the road, you will reach the hamlet of San Francisco de la Montañeta (belonging to Garachico), which lies near stretches of farmland and pine forests. Not far is the recreational and camping area of Arenas Negras. To reach La Montañeta, you can also take the road that sets off from the hamlet of El Amparo, near Icod de los Vinos, through the neighbourhood of La Vega.
