    Descripción del recorrido

    Esta ruta transcurre por una pista forestal llana con ligeras subidas y bajadas. La vegetación predominante en esta zona es la laurisilva y el fayal-brezal. La ladera está poblada de una abundante vegetación rupícula, formada, sobre todo, por bejeques, musgos y líquenes. A pocos minutos de camino encontraremos un manantial, convertido hoy en una fuente construida en piedra. No debe tomarse el camino que sube junto a esta fuente. En la pista de las Hiedras confluyen varios desvíos. Así, a unos 400 metros de la fuente y a la izquierda existe la posibilidad de cambiar la dirección del recorrido y descender hasta El Batán. En vez de ello, la excursión propuesta continúa en línea recta. A unos 200 metros más adelante se observa, igualmente, la intersección del sendero que desciende desde la casa forestal. Sin abandonar la pista en ningún momento, el recorrido continúa y encontraremos una cueva refugio excavada en la roca. La excursión finaliza el el pequeño caserío de El Río.
