Once again this year, the town of Los Realejos is playing host to the traditional St Isidore’s Procession. Held for the first time in the seventeenth century, this procession was established to spread St Isidore the Labourer’s miracle stories after he had been canonised by Pope Gregory XV in 1622. Given its magnificence and relevance, it has been designated as a Feast of National Tourist Interest.

Participants in the procession wear traditional garments. They are joined by traditional string ensembles known as rondallas and groups of dancers in traditional outfits, known as magos. They all dance and sing around the images of St Isidore and his wife, Maria Torribia, known in Spain as Santa María de la Cabeza.
