A tour of India

02 December 2016
02 January 2017

The Art Room of the García Sanabria Park is the venue until 8 January for A tour of India, a photography exhibition in which Ankor Ramos puts on show the best pictures of his trip to the Indian sub-continent between November and December 2014. The exhibition comprises 30 large photographs. Ramos travelled by train to the cities of Delhi, Amritsar, Varanasi, Khajuraho, Agra, Jaipur and Jodhpur over a period of 27 hectic days, which are captured in a series of pictures focusing on the human side of life, those unrepeatable moments showing men and women going about their everyday life. Like previous works by this artist, A tour of India deliberately ignores architecture and landscapes, which feature only as the backdrop to human presence. None of the shots were the result of poses negotiated between the photographer and his subjects, except for that fleeting acceptance given by the person photographed with a gesture or smile of approval. Spectators will see human landscapes filled with life and with the colour that bathes India, converted into a pictorial and eye-pleasing polychromy. Every corner is a poetry of colours, a beautiful composition that just requires appropriate framing by the photographer and the magical complicity of the light. Ramos shows the utmost respect for the natural lighting of the surroundings, adapting his work and the moment to its presence or absence.
