Canarian foxglove

A plant species growing in laurel forests and humid pine forests

This plant, with its brightly coloured leaves and bright red flowers, is locally known as the cock's crest (Isoplexis canariensis) and is endemic to the Canary Islands. It lives in the laurel forests and humid pine forests of Las Mercedes, La Esperanza and Los Silos, where its stands out for its height of up to 1.5 m (4.9 ft) and the brightly coloured flowers that sprout from the top of the stalk in springtime.
