The house of Casa de Viera y Clavijo

Located on Calle Viera y Clavijo, this house is the birthplace of the illustrious Canarian writer who the street and house are named after, who was born in 1731. Inside, the house has been fully refurbished, but on the outside it still preserves the original façade and has therefore been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. José de Viera y Clavijo is considered one of the key figures in Canarian culture and tradition, and covered various different disciplines throughout his life, which ended on 21 February 1813. Every year, the Canarian Literature Day (Día de las Letras Canarias) commemorates his death.
