The Sierva de Dios Museum House

Sister María de Jesús, known on the Canary Islands as the Servant of God, was a religious lady who was born in El Sauzal in 1643. She led a simple and austere life in the convent of La Laguna, where she died in 1731. Although she was believed to have performed several miracles in her lifetime, it was three years after her passing when her body was miraculously discovered, perfectly preserved. On 15 February, hoards of devotees flock to the convent to see the Servant of God resting in her glass sarcophagus and share their prayers and promises with her. It is believed that the house where she was born is in El Sauzal, and so it has been turned into a museum devoted to her life and the thousands of miracles she is said to have performed. Visitors will see what Sister María de Jesus's everyday life in the convent was like thanks to the furniture and various utensils on display.
