Almáciga Beach

For those who love wild waters and surfing, Almáciga is idyllic. This is one of the three beaches in Taganana, a charming village that has kept its traditions practically intact. Located just below the hamlet it is named after, it rivals Roque de las Bodegas and Benijo as one of the most stunning beaches in the north-east of the Island.

Nestled at the foot of the Anaga mountain range, the beach can be found where the cliffs plunge into the sea as the powerful waves crash against the rock formations of Roques de Anaga.

The beach of Almáciga is made of black volcanic sand. Care should be taken with the waves here as they are generally quite strong all year round. This makes it great for surfing. In fact, several of the Island's surf schools come to practice here.
