Fresh fish and mouthwatering meat

Tenerife's long-standing fishing tradition makes its seafood the star of many of the dishes served in Rincón de la Luz. They are often seasoned with green or red mojo sauce and served with a helping of traditional "papas arrugadas" (wrinkly potatoes). The local recipes are generally quite simple, with the fish often just cooked on the grill, but this doesn't stop everyone who tastes them from wanting more.

The towns of Tajao, Los Abrigos, Porís de Abona and Los Cristianos all have great restaurants where the fish is simply exquisite, and many offer a range of volcanic dishes made with local produce. Some of them still have that fishing village charm about them.

Further inland, the meat is fantastic. Here, popular dishes feature goats meat or black pork, and to make it a square meal simply order them with a helping of Gofio flour "escaldón" and the house wine.

In addition to sampling the territory's gastronomy, you can also visit one of its many farm centres. Here, you will discover the best of Tenerife's culture by becoming familiar with its most important products. Save a spot in your holiday itinerary for a visit to the farm centres of Finca El Lomo or Las Margaritas.
