Tenerife strengthens air connectivity with Miami through daily flights via Madrid hub

Tenerife expands its U.S. market presence through a strategic Air Europa partnership

Tenerife is reinforcing its position as a premier travel destination by enhancing its connectivity with Miami through Air Europa, a key airline linking the two locations. As the second-largest U.S. airport for passenger traffic to Tenerife, Miami plays a vital role in broadening Tenerife’s accessibility for North American travelers. The island’s strategic collaboration with Air Europa ensures seamless access via the airline’s Madrid hub, offering travelers a convenient gateway to Tenerife’s extraordinary landscapes, luxury experiences, and cultural richness.

As part of this initiative, Turismo de Tenerife has intensified promotional efforts in Miami, showcasing the island’s diverse offerings, from breathtaking natural wonders to exquisite gastronomy and adventure tourism. The goal is to attract high-value travelers who seek immersive, authentic experiences while supporting Tenerife’s commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism.

“The North American market is a priority in our connectivity strategy,” said Lope Afonso, Vice President and Tourism Councilor of Tenerife. “Expanding access to the island allows us to reposition Tenerife as an experiential destination, moving beyond traditional mass tourism to attract discerning visitors who appreciate our rich culture, natural beauty, and high-quality hospitality.”

“Strengthening connectivity with Miami is a fundamental step in our internationalization strategy. With daily flights and a layover of less than three hours in Madrid, travelers from Miami can reach Tenerife with ease, experiencing the island’s unique blend of relaxation, adventure, and luxury,” added Dimple Melwani, CEO of Turismo de Tenerife. “Our collaboration with Air Europa ensures a premium travel experience while reinforcing our sustainability goals and commitment to high-quality tourism.”

Imanol Pérez, Commercial Director of Air Europa, stated, “we are very pleased to contribute to the connectivity of the islands with the rest of the world through the opportunities provided by our extensive international network from Madrid-Barajas. Miami is one of our key reference points in the Americas and bringing it closer to Tenerife will undoubtedly boost the region’s economy and promote it in such an important market as the United States. To achieve this, we offer passengers our Dreamliner fleet, which transforms transoceanic flights into a unique and more comfortable experience, allowing travelers to arrive more rested and with reduced jet lag.”

Tenerife hosted a two-day experiential activation at Brickell City Centre to further engage Miami travelers, immersing visitors in the island’s stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and world-class experiences. Attendees discovered why Tenerife is an unparalleled island getaway through interactive exhibits and audiovisual presentations. The campaign also featured a giveaway for two round-trip Air Europa tickets, offering lucky winners the chance to experience Tenerife firsthand.

Key executives from Turismo de Tenerife and Air Europa attended the event, including José Manuel Delgado, Air Europa’s Chief Financial Officer; Patricio Zanetta, Sales Manager for the U.S. and Canada; and Sales Executives for the U.S. and Canada Beatriz Quintanilla and Xavier Duran. Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to delivering seamless connectivity and high-quality travel experiences, positioning Tenerife as a must-visit destination for American travelers.
