On 8th January, Canary Productions premiered its latest documentary, Vuelta a las raíces (Back to the Roots). The successful screening took place at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes

The screening drew a full house at the museum’s auditorium, becoming far more than a simple premiere. It unfolded as a vibrant cultural gathering that brought together filmmakers, artists and audiences around a story rooted in identity, migration and belonging.
Directed by Shirly Millo and Gadi Cimand, ‘Back to the Roots‘ follows Senegalese musician Birane Wane on an intimate physical and emotional journey from Seville back to Senegal. Through his personal story, the documentary offers an unfiltered exploration of migration, addressing its causes, challenges and possible paths forward. Along the way, it gives voice to artists, activists and local fishermen, weaving together perspectives that are often overlooked.
The release of Back to the Roots underscores Canary Productions’ commitment to storytelling with depth and social relevance, reinforcing its role as a production company capable of combining strong cinematic craft with meaningful narratives that resonate beyond the screen.
