In Lanzarote different workshops have been held including a Camera Assistant Workshop where the company made available first-class professional equipment and technicians specialised in using them. The workshop was fully booked.

3Doubles Producciones took part in the film ‘Daily Fables’ in 2018

Daily Fables has been the most popular premiere of all times of a children’s film in Holland

In 2018, 3Doubles Producciones took part in the production of the feature film Daily Fables, based on the series of the same name, which turned 50 in 2018.

Daily Fables has always been made with puppets and this is their first 3D experience where the initial approach has been kept by using characters and sets that look like sets and puppets made of furry and other fabrics. This has given it a different visual style. 3Doubles Producciones has been involved in rigging, layout and animation, whereas other processes like shading, lighting, etc. have been handled by other Tinker Group studios, the European company 3Doubles Producciones joined in April 2018. Thanks to the popularity of the feature in Holland and Belgium, they are set to start the production of the TV series in March 2019, in which 3Doubles Producciones will take care of rigging, layout and animation. Other additional processes may be added.

Canarian actors and extras in international productions

The professionalism of local talent travels abroad

Shooting of “Familienurlaub mit Freunden” (English title: Family Holidays with Friends)

British local newspaper editor Barrie Mahoney, said that the Canary Islands´ tremendous energy and vitality boil down to its diversity of people all rubbing along happily with each other. Any casting director who works frequently across the seven islands would agree with Barrie. The islands’ colourful diversity is unequalled to most parts of Europe. As a leading service production company in the Canary Islands, Seven Islands Film has worked on film projects which required casts and extras from a broad spectrum of ethnic backgrounds besides European, including Indian, African and East Asian, to name a few. The company is now in pre-production of a television series for a major Swedish production company. The series is shooting with the Canary Islands doubling for Mexico, and several Canarian actors have been cast to play supporting roles. The Canarian actors will also be getting their first taste of acting outside Spanish soil as they will be travelling to Eastern Europe in early spring to join the major Swedish actors in studio filming.

As competition soars, service production is no longer just about employing experienced crew and state-of-the-art equipment. With offices in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, Seven Islands Film understands it is time to get creative and bold in order to cater for the needs of international producers, who come the Canary Islands for its diverse range of locations in close proximity. On German TV movie “Familienurlaub mit Freunden” (English title: Family Holidays with Friends) which was shot entirely in Tenerife, the company hired more than 100 extras for its highly choreographed crowd scenes.

As one of the longest running production companies in the Canary Islands, Seven Islands Film is equipped to provide full production services to shoots of all sizes of feature film, television drama and commercials.

The 40 % incentive is now even more attractive to animation and postproduction

Minimum expenditure required is brought down

In Tenerife, international feature films, series or animation productions can enjoy 40 % tax deduction. To be eligible, animation productions or films post-produced on the Island need only spend a minimum of 200,000 euros, instead of one million euros required up till now, which still applies to the rest of Spain. This major cut is included in Law 8/2018, of 5 November on the modification of the Canary Islands Economic and Tax Regime.

What are the basic requirements for international productions to benefit from the 40% incentive? First of all, the total budget has to amount to two million euros and a local production company to provide production services must be hired. If the film is shot on the island, a minimum of one million euros expenditure is required. However, if it is an animation production or only post-production is carried out on the island, the minimum amount required goes down to 200,000 euros. There is a wide range of eligible expenditure for shoots including all that related to the production of the film, from screenplay, first location scouting to editing and final cut. Lists of eligible expenditure for shoots and for animation are available.

There are plenty of excellent local production companies for this type of projects. Learn about them on the Film Commission’s professional directory. To find out more about tax incentives for film production in Tenerife, please see our film commission’s website.

The cuisine of Tenerife in 7 delicious recipes

The cuisine of Tenerife is undoubtedly a reason to visit our island. Due to the combination of flavours, local quality products and innovative offers the island earned six Michelin stars.

Cocina de Tenerife

Discover the gastronomy of Tenerife through its ingredients

A good way to taste the cuisine of a place is to get to know its protagonists: the unique ingredients that thousands of visitors enjoy each year. Discover the new tastes of Tenerife.

Gofio

https://youtu.be/d6GV5YocG2A

Gofio is a product inherited from the Guanches. Chef Esteban Gómez from the H10 Gran Tinerfe Hotel reinterpreted this dish in a waffle of green bananas and gofio with fish and onions – of course, with an unbeatable view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Honey from Tenerife

https://youtu.be/pmhoa8A-PNA

There are honeycombs at an altitude of more than 1,500 metres, on the slopes of Mount Teide. Here, the industrious bees produce one of Tenerife’s sweet gastronomic wonders: broom honey, as unique as the endemic plant itself.

Chef Pedro Rodríguez Dios, a bakery expert, created a recipe right in the Teide National Park. The dish is an inspiration of Genovese pesto, with honey being the main ingredient.

The black pig

https://youtu.be/FIpn2LTpPJI

The meat of the black pig is very popular in the Canary Islands, because the history dates back to the Guanches era, where they already lived with the ancient inhabitants of Tenerife.

The Chef of the Hotel Tigaiga, Luis González, created his interpretation of the traditional black pig in front of very curious spectators who could contemplate live how this delicacy of Tenerife is cooked.

The avocado

https://youtu.be/Sjc97OLSNco

Avocado is one of the trend foods today, partly due to its neutral taste and healthy properties. As a result, the fruit has become indispensable for many modern diets.

Rubén Cabrera, head chef at the La Cúpula restaurant at Hotel Jardines de Nivaria, prepared an avocado-shrimp ceviche with fennel and nasturtium leaf directly under avocado trees.

Tuna

https://youtu.be/4EZl6aNT0dM

This dish is supposed to be a connection between the cuisine of the Atlantic Ocean and the Asian continent… Nacho Hernández, chef of the Jaxana restaurant, presented us this recipe made in Robatayaki: potato peelings of the “papa negra” and miso.

This delicacy was prepared directly at the Atlantic coast that inspired this dish. By the way, do you know where the video was taken?

Cheese

https://youtu.be/vftzo3R6Ipc

The Tenerife-awarded and internationally recognised cheeses are the main ingredients of this recipe, prepared by Chef Braulio Simancas González of the Las Aguas restaurant at the Hotel Bahía del Duque.

Ravioli with goat cheese and old sheep cheese Montesdeoca on a beet reduction – inspiration of the Italian cuisine with elements of the Canarian cuisine.

The potatoes

https://youtu.be/G9xxo2fXCDE

One of the ingredients that can not be missed in Canarian cuisine is clearly the potato. Chef Jesús González from the Bogey restaurant at Hotel Las Madrigueras prepared this delicious recipe with a pure Canarian flavour: potatoes with ribs, corn and coriander mojo.

And which recipe is your favourite? The choice is difficult, so perhaps the best thing is to come to Tenerife and try each and every one of them ;-).
