In Tenerife there are many great places, as we have already shown you in the last blog post. Since the island has always been a centre of commerce and exchange of international culture, it influenced on the development of our archipelago. Today you can still find traces and legacies of that time. Centuries of history, architecture, contemporary and classic artworks characterise the historic quarters. Let’s go on an expedition, because today we introduce you to some of these beautiful must-see places.

It is actually a must to start our list with the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The historic centre of La Laguna is one of the most visited in Tenerife. On the one hand because of the special atmosphere that is breathed in its streets and on the other hand because of its monuments, churches and cozy corners. Visit the site or simply enjoy the “La Laguna vibes“ of the university city, open to culture, commerce and arts.

A cosmopolitan city where avant-garde and history go hand in hand to create unique urban spaces. Much of the city has been damaged, but after reconstruction, it looks even more beautiful today than ever before. A stroll through its cobbled streets followed by a delicious meal to taste the famous cuisine with fresh fish and seafood is also a must.

The cliffs of Los Gigantes

One of the most impressive places in Tenerife are the cliffs of Los Gigantes, a huge rocky colossus and also volcano that reach a height of 600 metres. The Guanches, the natives of Tenerife, called the cliffs the “wall of hell”. By the way, nature lovers will find up to 21 different species of cetaceans in the surrounding waters, such as the bottlenose dolphin or theshort-finned pilot whale (pilot whale).

Surely, you will never forget the unique and colourful flora, as well as one of the most beautiful sunrises you can witness in Tenerife from the summit of Mount Teide.

Anaga Rural Park, declared a green Biosphere Reserve, will awaken all your senses with its unique corners and trails. The landscapes seem to be drawn from fairy tales. The laurel forest (Laurisilva) is a living fossil because it is from the Tertiary and is the best preserved of the island. You can also visit remote villages like Taganana with its long fishing tradition.

To finish the list of natural landscapes in Tenerife, we go to the other side of the island, to the extreme northwest. Here we find the Teno Rural Park. Its great attraction are the spectacular landscapes of Isla Baja with the small villages and the high mountains, as well as Punta de Teno with the old lighthouse. Here you can enjoy one of the best views of the cliffs of Los Gigantes and the most romantic sunsets.
