The cliffs of Los Gigantes

One of the most impressive places in Tenerife are the cliffs of Los Gigantes, a huge rocky colossus and also volcano that reach a height of 600 metres. The Guanches, the natives of Tenerife, called the cliffs the “wall of hell”. By the way, nature lovers will find up to 21 different species of cetaceans in the surrounding waters, such as the bottlenose dolphin or theshort-finned pilot whale (pilot whale).

Whale and dolphin watching

Cetáceos Tenerife

As mentioned before, Los Gigantes is one of the best areas to spot whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. You shouldn’t miss this activity! If you book a trip on a boat, make sure that it has our Quality Charter. This guarantees not only a great excursion, but also environmental protection with regard to our marine environment.

The millennial dragon tree

Drago Tenerife

The thousand-year-old dragon tree (which actually dates back some 800 years) stands proudly in Icod de los Vinos as one of the most imposing natural sites of northern Tenerife. With a height of 16 metres and a circumference of 20 metres, a garden with different native plants such as small dragon trees, cardones and tabaibas has been created around it.

Mount Teide National Park

Teide Tenerife

In a list of the must-visits or must-sees of Tenerife, Mount Teide can’t be missed. Perhaps it is the most recognisable and emblematic silhouette that makes our island unique with its majestic appearance. World Heritage and the highest peak in Spain, it is worth spending a whole day (or even more) to explore the beauty of the national park. Surely, you will never forget the unique and colourful flora, as well as one of the most beautiful sunrises you can witness in Tenerife from the summit of Mount Teide.

Anaga Rural Park

Anaga Tenerife

Anaga Rural Park, declared a green Biosphere Reserve, will awaken all your senses with its unique corners and trails. The landscapes seem to be drawn from fairy tales. The laurel forest (Laurisilva) is a living fossil because it is from the Tertiary and is the best preserved of the island. You can also visit remote villages like Taganana with its long fishing tradition.

Teno Rural Park

Teno Tenerife

To finish the list of natural landscapes in Tenerife, we go to the other side of the island, to the extreme northwest. Here we find the Teno Rural Park. Its great attraction are the spectacular landscapes of Isla Baja with the small villages and the high mountains, as well as Punta de Teno with the old lighthouse. Here you can enjoy one of the best views of the cliffs of Los Gigantes and the most romantic sunsets.
