The Ritz-Carlton Abama, in the south of Tenerife, offers an exclusive stay where even the smallest details are taken cara of

Tenerife is a holiday destination that attracts five million visitors a year. You may think that there are only a few places to discover on the island but Tenerife actually boasts hundreds of secluded beauty spots, which reveal the island’s wild and unspoilt nature. The Ritz-Carlton Abama enjoys a prime location in the south of Tenerife, in the municipality of Guía de Isora. Surrounded by banana plantations and situated on the coast with stunning views of the island of La Gomera, this 395-acre establishment is a veritable oasis of tranquillity and luxury.

Standing like an Arab citadel, with reddish tones set against ample green spaces, guests value the exclusivity of the Ritz-Carlton brand and know that they will receive the best possible service throughout their stay. “We take care of every need of our guests, keeping one step ahead and preparing all the little touches that they love so much”, explains María Román, Head of Marketing and Communications, who assures that “whenever our guests ask us for something, we do everything possible — and sometimes the impossible — to make it happen”.

The crown jewel of the hotel is its so-called Club Level, an exclusive area only accessible to guests that have booked this service. Located on the tenth and top floors of the establishment, its exclusive benefits include a private check-in and check-out area separated from the rest of the hotel. It incorporates a Club Lounge (with panoramic views of the mountains and an impressive golf course), as well as Deluxe rooms and suites with breathtaking ocean views. One of the most highly valued attractions by guests is the superb gastronomy available all day long, from the breakfast buffet to lunch, tea, aperitifs and, of course, the exquisite personal service.

The hotel has 469 rooms and suites arranged within the Citadel (the heart of the resort) and the Villas. The Citadel is a perfect choice for families with children or for groups of friends. In the Villas, guests seeking a more exclusive experience will find all the luxuries they need. Designed for adults only and with private terraces, the Villas are a place where dreams come true, such as butler service and exclusive swimming pools (the complex boasts nine in total).

A restaurant’s national and international reputation is proved by its fine cuisine, and Michelin stars are the highest accolade of all. The Ritz-Carlton Abama offers two restaurants that have obtained this much-coveted distinction: the Martín Berasategui, MB, which has two Michelin stars, and the Japanese Kabuki, with one Michelin star. A total of three stars that firmly place this unique complex amongst the finest in the world.

Alongside these two spectacular restaurants there are other options as impressive as the two mentioned, such as El Mirador, serving quality dishes and offering guests unrivalled ocean views. There are also the Tapas & Wine Bar (international cuisine), La Veranda (breakfasts), Pampa (specialised in meat dishes) or Verona (authentic Italian cuisine), as well as Bar Kubanika, the Sports Bar and Los Chozos restaurant (light Mediterranean food), amongst others.

Guests at Abama adore its swimming pools. Yet when they discover the hotel’s idyllic and inviting exclusive beach, they fall in love at first sight. You can reach it on foot in just a few minutes, although it’s even easier if taking the shuttle train that runs throughout the day (it takes less than five minutes and you get to enjoy some great views along the way) or the fun funicular which, like the shuttle train, is free.

The tranquil beach has calm, crystal-clear waters. It also offers exclusive services for guests at the hotel such as sun loungers and beach umbrellas, as well as a beach club where you can have a snack or something more filling if you wish to spend the whole day at this idyllic beauty spot.

Later on — actually at any time of the day — you can indulge yourself in the hotel’s 2,500 m2 Spa, where not only your body gets pampered, but your mind as well. It is a fusion of Asian and African influences, where floral and herbal essences, the sound of tropical birds and the rays of the sun perfectly combine to create a veritable haven for relaxation. Peels, wraps, Kneipp therapy… there are so many treatments to choose from.

One of the hotel’s main attractions is its fabulous golf course. Designed by prestigious golfer Dave Thomas, it is widely regarded as one of the finest in Europe. It is over 6,000 metres long and, needless to say, has 18 holes. It also has over 25,000 trees and lies up to 315 metres above sea level, ensuring some awe-inspiring views that make it a must-play course for all golf lovers.
