Tenerife has welcomed several national and international shoots in this “towards a new normal” phase. All the shoots were successfully carried out in a safe setting.

Spanish productions

In June, films shoots restarted with the commercial Solo un Ilimitable tiene la Red Ilimitable de Vodafone, produced by Lee Films with Volcano Films providing production services in Tenerife. It shows Tenerife’s versatile locations and the professionalism of local crews, who adapted to the demands of the script but also to the new protocol of measures to tackle Covid-19.

In July and August, Spanish fiction was hard at work on the island. For three weeks, Paco León and Miren Ibarguren’s new comedy, Mamá o papá, directed by Dani de la Orden shot on the island. Festeam Comunicación y Eventos provided production services for Atresmedia Cine, Warner Bros, Álamo Producciones Audiovisuales and Álamo Audiovisual Séptima Parte, AIE. This Spanish feature film chose a wide range of natural and urban locations.

The series Sky Rojo and Hierro restarted shoots that were scheduled to take place before the health crisis. Sky Rojo, created by Álex Pina (Money Heist), shot part of the story in Tenerife during the summer. It is about three prostitutes who run away from the club where they live leaving behind their badly wounded, half-paralysed pimp. This is a Vancouver Media production for Netflix. Also, Hierro, which was the first series to resume shooting on the Islands, finished their shoot in the Canaries in Tenerife, where they filmed for one day in an urban setting.

There was also room for auteur works like the short documentary Lovebirds by Víctor Moreno and his production company, Kino Pravda, who filmed in such a singular place like Ten-Bel.

International Projects

International creatives also opted for Tenerife during the summer. The German brand Oppo hired the production services of Canary Productions  for their photo and video shoots.

And Seven Islands Film successfully worked in the next music video of French duo Vitaa & Slimane in Tenerife. These French artists, who have up to 49 million views on YouTube, chose desertic, inspiring locations like Parque Nacional del Teide, the peculiar rock formation in Tajao or Punta Sarnosa in Porís de Abona.
