Holy Week in Tenerife is celebrated with great religious fervour. Processions and acts of the most deeply-rooted Christian tradition take place all over the island, especially in certain towns and villages.
In La Laguna, these dates are marked in a very special way. The city hosts processions full of floats, which are prepared with great care by brotherhoods within the city, to create a great experience and celebration of Christianity, with thousands of faithful present.
In the settlements of Candelaria, Güímar and Adeje, they perform a re-enactment of the Way of the Cross, in an overwhelming display of religiosity and passion.
Holy Week is also experienced with the same passion in other municipalities of Tenerife. This is the case in La Orotava, Arona, Icod de los Vinos, El Sauzal and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
