Tenerife’s best summer festivals

Open-air festivals are always linked to the summer season – and Tenerife is an ideal destination for holidaymakers to enjoy the island’s music festivals during their summer holidays; especially if British bands including Orbital and The Reytons are performing.

Tenerife’s pleasant temperatures and natural landscapes offer the perfect setting for open-air summer festivals. From pop, rock and urban sounds to electronic and folk music, the biggest and most diverse of the Canary Islands is the place to be, and dance, this summer.

Some of Tenerife’s best summer festivals taking place this summer are:

Rhythms of the World (14, 15 July)

The “Rhythms of the World” (Ritmos del Mundo) festival will take place on the third weekend of July on Golf Costa Adeje (south), in a more family-friendly setting than in previous editions. The best urban sounds will accompany a variety of activities, music and entertainment suitable for all ages. J Balvin, Morad, Conjurer, La Diabla, Duki, Lunay and Saiko are some of the artists who will be performing at this year’s edition.

Cook Music Fest 2023 (20-22 July)

This music and gastronomy festival, which takes place in the northern town of Puerto de La Cruz, is committed to the spreading of culture and leisure. In addition, this year’s edition will see a new leisure and sustainable arts and crafts fair with local artisans from the Canary Islands and international craftspeople who live on the islands.

The well-known “Poet of Salsa”, Rubén Blades, will delight audiences with his lyrics; while Olga Tañón, known as “The Woman of Fire”, will visit the island for the second time for the festival. Other artists such as hip-hop singer, El Taiger; Argentinian artist, María Becerra; and Spanish artists Ana Mena and Omar Montes, will also take part in this year’s edition.

Eurorainbow (28-30 July)

After the success of its first edition last year, Eurorainbow festival, the only European festival that celebrates the diversity and visibility of the Eurovision Song Contest, will turn Santa Cruz, Tenerife’s island capital, into a hub for Eurofans and champions of equality. Some of the artists performing will be Spanish singer, Vanesa Martín; rapper Ptazeta; and Israeli singer and songwriter, Dana International.

Women World Fest (10-26 August)

“Women World Fest” (Mujeres World Fest) is the first festival in Spain – and one of the only few ones in the world – that gives prominence to women in all aspects. For the second year in a row, Women World Fest will take place in the popular southern area of Costa Adeje and the line-up includes renowned artists such as Luz Casal, India Martínez, Lila Downs, Pastora Soler, Valeria Castro, Vicco and Ainhoa Aguilar.

Sunblast (12 August)

On the 12th of August more than 15,000 people will gather in Costa Adeje to experience one of the Canary Islands’ biggest music events. Over thirty Canarian and international artists will participate in this year’s edition, including world references of electronic music such as Anuel, Nightmares on Wax, Sven Vath, Juicy M and La Diabla. The festival will have five different stages.

Phe Festival (18, 19 August)

This independent festival, which celebrates its eighth edition this year, has added different types of music, cultural trends, arts, gastronomy and innovation throughout its previous editions. This year, the festival, which is held in Puerto de La Cruz, has a line-upthat includes internationally renowned artists such as Orbital – the British duo who are pioneers of electronic dance music; and Trueno – the Argentinean phenomenon of the urban genre. In addition, the festival will also feature British band, The Reytons and other outstanding national artists such as Natalia Lacunza, Shinova, Arde Bogotá and Second, as well as other independent artists such as Sexy Zebras and Jimena Amarillo.

Peñón Rock (5-14 October)

Summer in Tenerife also includes October – the month where Peñón Rock will take place. Born six years ago, this festival is entirely dedicated to rock music and fans. This year’s edition offers a new line-up and new musical styles with the aim of reaching new audiences. Taking place in Puerto de la Cruz, some of the artists performing at the Peñón Rock include Mónica Naranjo, Mägo de Oz, La Guardia, Technotronic, Loco Mía, Sidecars and many more.
