On 24 February, María Berasarte is coming on stage at the Tenerife Auditorium to sing fado and chanson, two popular music genres – one from Portugal, one from France – that seldom come together. In this concert, Berasarte honours those female singers who have had an influence on her development as an artist: Édith Piaf, Barbara, Amália Rodrigues, Maria Teresa de Noronha, Françoise Hardy, and others.
Born in San Sebastián, Spain, and currently living in Lisbon, Portugal, María Berasarte has conquered the world with her “naked voice”, boasting a mezzo-soprano vocal range. She specialises in popular music from the Iberian Peninsula, particularly fado.
