Cycling in Tenerife

• Don't forget to take a coat and a rain jacket. Remember that the island has a microclimate and the weather can change quickly, especially at higher altitudes.
• Check the weather forecasts before setting off.
• Be extremely cautious on the roads, especially in busy urban areas.
• When travelling alone, always let someone at the hotel reception know where you are by leaving a phone number so that they can keep track of where you are.
• When cycling, always wear a helmet; it is compulsory and essential for your safety.

The favourable weather conditions mean that you can cycle all year round. We have an average temperature of 22 degrees 365 days a year.

• In spring, the weather is warm but not excessively hot, ideal for cycling routes without the high temperatures of summer.
• In autumn, temperatures are pleasant, and the wind on the coast eases, offering perfect conditions for road routes.
• In the winter, the temperature is extremely pleasant, making it an ideal destination to escape the cold of the rest of Europe and continue training.

In Tenerife you will find a wide range of specialised shops where you can rent road bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes or whatever you need.

You can count on technical service and roadside assistance, however, we recommend that you don't skimp on safety measures, especially helmets.

For groups of more than 50 cyclists, a permit is required. You can apply for a permit at the Cabildo de Tenerife's road department or through the Island Cycling Federation.
