Burras de Güímar 2024

On 16 February, the town of Güímar in Tenerife is putting on the performance that marks the climax of the Carnival season.

The celebration known as Las Burras combines a series of local legends and traditions, rescued from oblivion by the younger generations over two decades ago. It consists of a dramatic re-enactment of the archetypal battle between good and evil, enhanced with special effects. Hundreds of locals take part in the preparations and in the action itself.
