L’enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Spells)

On 20 and 21 April, Ópera de Tenerife is presenting a family performance: L’enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Spells), an opera in one act by Maurice Ravel, at the Tenerife Auditorium. The production will feature Jordi Francés as conductor, with the Intermezzo-Opera de Tenerife Resident Choir and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.

Set in an old-fashion country home in Normandy, L’enfant et les sortilèges tells the story of a rude child who, after being scolded by his mother for not doing his homework, throws a tantrum, destroying the room around him and harming the animals nearby. He is then surprised to find that the unhappy objects in his room come to life.
