Festivities of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Los Realejos

In July, Los Realejos celebrates the Festivities of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. The religious events are accompanied by a varied festive programme that also includes music, sports, children's games, parades and the Battle of the Flowers competition. 

One of the most popular events is the Octava Procession, in which the sailors of Puerto de la Cruz devotedly carry the effigy of the Virgin on their shoulders to much applause.
