The Festivities in Honour of Our Lady of Candelaria reach their climax on her patron saint's day, the 15th of August.
On the 15th, pilgrims from all over the island arrive on foot to participate in processions and activities in the Basilica and the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias. The Guanche Ceremony, held the day before, recreates the discovery of the Virgin before the conquest.
