After the death of Pompey at the hands of King Ptolemy of Egypt, Julius Caesar arrives in Egypt and falls in love with Cleopatra. While she fights for the throne, with Caesar's support, Pompey's relatives' desire for revenge complicates the situation. In the end, Cleopatra is crowned queen, and the two seal their love and loyalty to one another.
