Burial of the Sardine

The traditional “Burial of the Sardine” is one of the most important events of the Santa Cruz Carnival. This year, it will take place on the 5th of March, Ash Wednesday. 

During the ceremony, hundreds of “widows” will follow a specially decorated float that will be consumed by flames. See the streets of the capital brimming with fake tears and join in with the healthy sense of humour!
