Corpus Christi in La Orotava

Celebrate Corpus Christi in the historic centre of La Orotava on the 4th of June. During this iconic festival—one of the most important traditional events in the Canary Islands—the streets are transformed into veritable works of ephemeral art through stunning carpets made from flowers and volcanic sand from Mount Teide. 

In the run-up to the celebration, local residents and artists work for months to create tapestries that line the procession route, with the highlight being the large mural in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, considered one of the most spectacular in the world.
