Puerto de la Cruz takes to the sea on 14th July for the traditional Embarkation of the Virgin of Carmel.
The statue of Nuestra Señora del Carmen (Our Lady of Carmel), patron saint of sailors, is carried in a maritime procession from the church to the sea, accompanied by decorated boats and fireworks. One of the most deeply-rooted traditions on the north coast of Tenerife.
