The Procession of Arafo

Arafo celebrates its Saint Augustine Procession on the 29th of August.

The procession in Arafo—known as “the town of music” for its numerous bands and musical groups—pays homage to Saint Augustine with one of the most meticulously organised processions in Tenerife in terms of folkloric quality. Carts, teams of oxen and traditional music groups parade through the town in a festive atmosphere that combines religious devotion and popular culture.
