Festivities of the Christ in La Laguna

In September, La Laguna celebrates the Festivities of the Holy Christ, the town’s most important festival.

The Festivities of the Holy Christ of La Laguna take place throughout September and include more than 50 cultural, religious, sporting and community events. The most important day is the 14th of September. The key events are the Descent of the Christ (when the statue is carried in procession to the Cathedral for the kissing of the feet), the Octave of the Christ and the traditional “little fire horses” fireworks dance on the eve of the big day. The programme also includes the Sabandeños Festival, fun runs and activities for all ages.
