Corpus Christi Flower Carpets 2022

In La Orotava, Corpus Christi reaches its Big Day on the Corpus Christi Octave, also known as Carpet Thursday. It is one of the main events of life in town. Corpus Christi celebrations go on for 47 days, but they peak during the Big Week – this year, from 20 to 26 June.

On the Big Day, activities begin at 7am with the peal of bells, followed by the Eucharist, attended by the carpet makers. Then, the main streets in the historic district get filled with flower tapestries, made with colourful volcanic soil from Teide National Park and placed in the Town Hall Square.
