Trail description
This well-paved trail leads up to the lookout point, where the view over the crater of Pico Viejo and western Tenerife is stunning. From there, you can see the tongues of black lava known as Lavas Negras which poured out during the last eruption to have occurred within the Park: Las Narices del Teide in 1798. To the west, you can also see El Chinyero, which was the last volcano to erupt in Tenerife in 1909. On a clear day, you can see as far as the islands of La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. There are fumaroles along the trail puffing out smoke and the distinct smell of sulphur.
