Trail description
This trail links the upper part of Roques de García Trail 3 with Teide - Pico Viejo - TF-38 Trail 9 at Degollada de Pico Viejo, also known as Degollada de Chahorra. This hike requires some degree of preparation, as it involves a steep climb at high altitudes, reaching 3,058 m (10,032 ft). On this trail, you will see how the mountain vegetation gradually changes as you climb, until nothing but extremely stunted broom bushes grow on the highest stretch of the walk. One of the interesting things about this trail is seeing the various types of lava that can emanate during a volcanic eruption. Some stretches of the trail take you over the actual lava, making it somewhat difficult to walk due to the loose stones with sharp edges underfoot.
