Cueva del viento
The experience of visiting Europe’s largest volcanic tube and one of the
longest in the world.
In the municipality…
How would you like to take a walk through a lava cave created over 27,000 years ago? The Island is home to a cave that was created by a huge tongue of lava which cooled quickly on the outside while the molten inside flowed through. This left 17 km – 10 miles – of tunnels in the earth. That is how Europe's longest volcanic tunnel was born: Cueva del viento
It is the activity of visiting underground caves and caverns. The aim is to discover the natural cavities of the earth. Among the categories to be practised, there is volcanic caving, which specialises in discovering the caves and caverns of the earth.
In Tenerife you can go caving in the Cueva del Viento and it is of medium difficulty. It is therefore not recommended for children under 5 years of age. The route lasts a total of 2 hours, including the journey in the vehicle.
