Multisport races

You will tell yourself over and over again that you can not go on, but you will persevere. You will try to dodge the waves to keep gulping in air and your muscles will ache with every stroke forward. Your legs will hammer the pedals time and time again. Your stride will grow with every eager heartbeat. Yet tired as you are, you will never stop because you know that once you cross the finish line, even though you have pushed your body to its very limits, you will already be looking forward to the next race.

Tenerife is home to no end of idyllic locations where you can pursue your favourite sport. Most of the Island's beaches are perfect for swimming unimpeded. The mountain roads are full of different bends and slopes for all levels, as cycling lovers will be delighted to discover. Its many footpaths for hikers and forest trails for mountain bikers are a powerful attraction for training in breathtaking and unique settings.

Tenerife has mile after mile of fabulous – and well signposted – trails where you can experience that feeling of absolute freedom as you plough on and fill your lungs with fresh, outdoor air. The joy of climbing through silent pine forests to reach Spain's highest peak, towering 3,500 metres (11,500 feet) high, is a pleasure you will only experience here.

What's more, the Island's calendar is packed with mountain racing events to suit all racers. Are you ready to face your next challenge?

Tenerife is the perfect location for triathletes. The altitude is high, the weather is mild all year round and its beaches are beautifully varied. All of this makes it the ideal setting for the many triathlon events that take place here. The finest Spanish and international athletes flock to the Island to negotiate its steep slopes, cycle up to 2,700 metres (8,850 feet) on Mount Teide and swim through the waves of the Atlantic.

You will get few chances like this to beat your own records in such a privileged location, pushing your endurance to the limits with distances and difficulties to suit all levels.

Tenerife has a constant temperature of 22°C (72°F), which means you can pursue your favourite sport all year round. What's more, the Island boasts the perfect terrain and amenities for you to make the very most of your sports outings. The duathlon will take you through the disciplines of running, cycling and running, in that order. The distance of each discipline may vary but the challenge will always put your endurance to the test. Try it and see how much fun it can be!

Tenerife is the ultimate destination for aquathletes, owing largely to the wonderful variety of its beaches and coastline. Come winter or summer, the temperature on the Island is constant, inviting you to pursue your favourite sport all year round. This is the duathlon's aquatic cousin, where cycling is replaced with swimming. Although the distances may vary, the usual combination involves a 2.5 km (1.5 mile) run, followed by a 1000 m (3,250 foot) swim and concluding with another 2.5 km (1.5 mile) run. The pace of the race is fast and fun – it will be over before you know it. Tenerife's sporting events calendar includes a number of important competitions.
