Tenerife is the ultimate destination for aquathletes, owing largely to the wonderful variety of its beaches and coastline. Come winter or summer, the temperature on the Island is constant, inviting you to pursue your favourite sport all year round. This is the duathlon's aquatic cousin, where cycling is replaced with swimming. Although the distances may vary, the usual combination involves a 2.5 km (1.5 mile) run, followed by a 1000 m (3,250 foot) swim and concluding with another 2.5 km (1.5 mile) run. The pace of the race is fast and fun – it will be over before you know it. Tenerife's sporting events calendar includes a number of important competitions.
