You will be required to comply with the regulations set out by the Canary Islands' Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Water.
It is strictly forbidden to:
- Fish for protected species: bluefin tuna, hake and swordfish.
- Go fishing without holding the corresponding fishing licence. When fishing from specialised boats, individual licences will not be necessary as the vessel will have a Collective Fishing Licence according to the number of persons authorised to sail on the vessel.
There are certain other species that may be fished but the captain must declare that they have been caught:
- Albacore (known as Bonito del Norte).
- Bigeye tuna (Tuna).
- Yellowfin tuna (Rabil).
