12 Women

54 years have passed since the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife organised 12, an exhibition of works by pioneering female artists from the Canary Islands. Eva Fernández, María Belén Morales, Lola Massieu, Jane Millares, Manón Ramos, Birgitta Bergh, Quita Brodhead, Celia Ferreiro, Vicki Penfol, Carla Prina, Tanja Tamvelius and Maud Westerdahl were chosen for the exhibition – iconic women artists in the history of Canarian art.

In an effort to promote these women, popularise their work and highlight their role in the development of art in the Canary Islands in the twentieth century, CajaCanarias is gathering them again in 12 Mujeres (12 Women).
