55th St Mark the Evangelist’s Procession

Every year, on the last Sunday in April, the town of Tegueste gets ready for its most important procession, drawing hundreds of pilgrims. Wearing traditional costumes, they are accompanied by wagons carrying farm products, cattle herds, boats and folk bands from different islands.

The procession, which comes as the climax of a week’s worth of celebrations in Tegueste, is having its 55^th edition on 30 April. Activities include the Main Pilgrim Pageant, Canarian wrestling tournaments and other sporting competitions, the Blessing of the Cattle and an offering to the patron saint of farm products.
