À mon ami. Chopin and Franchomme, the Twilight of the Gods

In the context of its Chamber Music Programme, the Tenerife Auditorium is hosting a concert by Belgian cellist Camille Thomas and French pianist Julien Brocal.

In his final years, Frédéric Chopin wrote his Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65, for his friend Auguste-Joseph Franchomme. The cello sonata was the last of Chopin’s works to be published in his lifetime. The day before his death, Chopin asked to listen to it and Franchomme played it for him, as a testament to the friendship that bound the two men together, both as artists and as human beings. In this concert, Chopin’s sonata, along with other works by the Polish composer and the French cellist, will bring Thomas and Brocal together.
