Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2024

From 12 January to 18 February, Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be wrapped in a Carnival atmosphere. The Carnival in Tenerife is one of the best in the world and a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest. This year, Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will honour Television. As usual, the programme includes a wide range of activities, which are expected to draw large numbers of visitors.

Contests are an important aspect of Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Held at the Tenerife Trade Fair and Congress Centre, they include krewe and music band competitions, as well as Carnival Queen pageants for both women and girls. The Carnival Queen Gala will take place on 7 February.

Carnival in Tenerife is also about street celebrations. On 9 February, everyone is invited to join the Carnival Opening Parade, led by the Carnival Queen. On 10 February in the afternoon, it will be the turn of bands and krewes with the Ritmo y Armonía (Rhythm & Harmony) Competition. Day celebrations have been scheduled to begin on 11 February. Other Carnival highlights include Carnival Monday (12 February), the Big Carnival Parade or “Coso Apoteosis del Carnaval”, when celebrations reach their climax (13 February), and the “Entierro de la Sardina”, or Burial of the Sardine, on 14 February.
