May Festival: Crosses and Fireworks

On 2 and 3 May, Los Realejos is hosting a unique event in Europe, which consists of a three-hour gunpowder-shooting show, accompanied by mellifluous music and colourful lights brightening up the sky. The event brings two symbols together in the context of the May celebrations: crosses and fireworks.

More than 300 crosses decked out with flowers will be scattered across town during the celebrations, whose nerve centres will be on the district of La Cruz Santa and two streets: Calle El Sol and Calle del Medio. Here, the streets, façades, homes, courtyards and shrines will sport the most beautiful flowers, candles and lights.
