The Teide violet (Viola cheiranthifolia) is the plant that blossoms at the highest altitudes in Spain and has been found growing on the peaks of Guajara and on the slopes of El Teide, 3,300 m (10,800 ft) high. Alexander von Humboldt accurately described it as the most fragile and delicate species in Teide National Park. Although its flowers come in all colours, they are usually mauvey and violet tones with yellow and white specks in the middle.
