Candelaria Carnival

The municipality of Candelaria, located in the south of the Island, celebrates its own version of carnival. The festivities begin one week after the carnivals of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz. Most of the important events, such as the junior and adult carnival queen election gala, or the regional murga gathering, all take place in the square outside the Virgen de Candelaria basilica. For a few days, the municipality comes to life with the same bright colours, joy and passion that the carnival stirs up elsewhere on the Island.
