Los Gigantes Carnival

As in other municipalities in Tenerife, the town of Los Gigantes (Santiago del Teide) has its own carnival celebrations one week after Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz. The festive atmosphere fills the streets with rhythm and excitement for four full days. This includes the typical events of the junior and adult carnival queen election gala, the costume contests, the dancing, the musical performances, the parades and the closing ceremony, known as the Sardine Burial. Most of these celebrations take place at Plaza de la Buganvilla, right in the heart of the town.
