The Great Almond Grind

This tradition takes place in November in Guía de Isora with the aim of recalling and highlighting the importance of crops of almonds, figs and other fruit trees that grow in the dry lands of southern Tenerife. The fair gathers a whole host of bakers and confectioners from the south of the Island, and is complemented by the almond "apañada" event that takes place in September in Vilaflor de Chasna. During the "apañada", volunteers and farmers join forces to harvest a great many almonds that will later be sold at the fair to raise funds.
